Book Now

Historic burial grounds are known to be an important part of individual and public history where various characteristics of a specific culture can be studied. Significance of Istanbul’s cemeteries comes from the fact that this vibrant city was capital of two of the greatest empires of the world. Christian Emperors, Muslim Sultans, religious figures and noblemen were buried in its cemeteries. Inhabitants of Istanbul built magnificent tombs and burial grounds representing different culture and religions, to put Istanbul on the map as an open-air museum of funerary architecture. Cemeteries and Memorial Monuments comprises the major part of the İstanbul’s historical scene.
