Ephesus – Learn to cook Aegean Style (full day)

Book Now

Selcuk is a small town where famous Ephesus Ancient City is located. Our first stop is House of Virgin Mary, where she is believed to have lived her last days. We will then proceed to beautifully preserved Ephesus Ancient City. Ephesus is probably the best combination of Greek, Roman and Byzantine civilizations. With the mythological stories and spectacular ruins you will feel the life in ancient city. See the Fountains of Trojan, Polio, the Temples of Hadrian and Domition, Private House, the Library of Celsius, Various and Scholastic Baths, Bouloterion and the Great Theatre with capacity of 24,000 spectators. Now we are ready to learn to cook a Turkish meal for ourselves. Our first stop is the street market of the town (available only on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays – on other days ingredients will be provided by the restaurant) and do our shopping for fresh vegetables and other ingredients. Our menu may vary depending on season and your taste.

We may learn to cook a nice vegetable cassarole, or a Turkish style pizza or some stuffed eggplants. After preparing, we will be using a stone oven to cook our food. While lunch is being cooked, you will have a chance to visit a nearby carpet center in order to learn and understand about this very important and traditional local handicrafts. After lunch, we will proceed to small and beautiful village of Sirince located up the hill. This village is famous with it’s fruit wines. You will have a chance to learn how fruit wines (cherry, peach, raspberry, melon, etc) are made and will also have a tasting session. You will also have a chance to walk around it’s narrow streets and shop from locals selling olive oil, soap, wine, food and souvenirs.

Testimonials

  • Dear Friends at Unison Turkey, Back from our EBU TRAINING Assembly in Istanbul on 20 and 21 October 2011, we would like to express to you our sincere thanks for your high level of professionalism and for the excellent logistic assistance provided before, during and after our event, which contributed in making our annual meeting a real success. Participants and speakers alike praised the accommodation and transfers support and the availability and kindness of your staff. The team present at the hotel was very helpful, available at any time and it has been a real pleasure working with Burcu and her colleague. We wish you and your colleagues all the very best for the future. Yours sincerely, Nathalie Labourdette Head, EBU TRAINING

  • Hi gorgeous.
What can I say to someone who has just given us the most wonderful trip of our lives. Over the past 40 years we have been extremely lucky and travelled to most countries in the world through many travel agents and organisers but never before have we been looked after to the level that you showed us. You not only exceeded our expectations but you set a new standard for future travel, that I doubt anyone will even come close to. The tailored itinerary you, Frances and Gursan set for us, was perfect and fitted all our personal interests. The hotels you selected where all wonderful and always in the right position. The guides and drivers where sensational, especially Arzu and always turned up early for pickups. I was delighted when Marlie (not sure the spelling is correct) picked us up for our final trip to the airport. He was so good to us during our trip around and seeing him again was like greeting an old and very special friend and when we said good-by he gave me a gift that I will treasure always.
During the flight home Elaine and I tried to decide on a highlight of our four weeks in your country and found it impossible to pick any one day or event. Every day was so diverse, the time we spent in the Taurus mountains with Gursan, the balloon flight in Cappadocia, having lunch with Frances and her friend in Heraklia, exploring Princes' Island with Gursan, sailing into a secluded bay in the Gulf of Gokoba, having dinner with you and Gursan on our final night where all mentioned and all wonderful experiences but for me the six days we spent laughing our way around a small part of Turkey with Frances and seeing her world was very special. She is wonderful and we had so much fun together that I think our time with Frances was my highlight.
The personal attention you showed us was exceptional, checking up on our wellbeing every day and going above and beyond, such as arranging the wine for our sailing trip was wonderful. Thanks to you we saw a side of Turkey that most tourists don't see and it was wonderful. To say we loved your country and it's people is an understatement and we will be recommending a trip to Turkey and you to everyone we speak to for a long, long time. I hope you come to Australia one day and let us show you our world, we would just love to see you. In closing a big, big thank you. You are a very special, beautiful person, may success and happiness follow you for ever.
    Love
    Tony and Elaine  xx

  • What can I say?? Thanks Burcu and Oguz for making our trip so special and unforgettable. We loved your country. Baloon ride in Cappadocia was such a great experience. Oguz has been fun, helpful and informative all along the way. Also thanks to our driver Mehmet for taking us around safe & sound. Angie & Conor Cogan / USA-Florida
