The Old City Beckons … an experience not to be missed! (half day walking tour)

Book Now

If you have time for just one tour, this should be it! This is a walk not to be missed by anyone who would like to discover the more unusual aspects of Turkish cuisine. Let us accompany you through the colourful backstreets and hustle and bustle of historic Eminönü . We will introduce you to all kinds of unusual food as we walk, very possibly tastes that you have never encountered before. We will talk about white cheese, olives, pickles, baklava, milk puddings,Turkish Delight, and much more … our walk will take us through traditional neighbourhoods where you can imagine that time has stood still. If you have a hankering for the old Istanbul resonant with the cries of street vendors, shops owned by the same family for generations, timeless scenes of men enjoying a glass of tea outside on the pavement, porters humping impossible burdens on their backs, this walk is for you. Not only will we eat street food, we will sometimes enter the little local restaurants to enjoy their particular speciality. We will say goodbye only after a delicious late lunch in the Kurdish part of the city.

me drinking cay in OdemisHi! My name is Claudia, a longtime resident of Istanbul with a lot to say about my life here! This includes what I do, cook and subsequently eat. Istanbul is great in many ways: it may have way too much traffic, the city is overcrowded and the amount of construction defies belief but yet I can't deny that life is fun on many levels.

You may wonder how long I have lived here and the answer is an amazing 30+ years. It has opened up so many doors above all with wonderful friendships across so many borders. It has forced me to get to grips with social media. I am still learning, that's for sure! And it has developed in me a deep interest in what Turkey is producing and what the markets have to offer. My cooking has improved enormously and I have learned so much about this rich cuisine that is based on the marvelous fresh produce that is available here.

Turkey is a wonderful country with a lot to offer both culinary as well as  historical and archaeological. I hope you enjoy my tours! All I can say at this point is:

Afiyet olsun!

  • We just returned from Istanbul last night and I cannot thank you enough for arranging such a wonderful trip for me. I came away with so many great story ideas, and I've never been more excited to start writing about a place. Thank you so much for all of your help! Kate Parham - Journalist

  • Dear Baris, I was just talking today to Mr Szumanski who came back with his family from their vacation in Turkey. Taking this opportunity I would like to thank you very much for the excellent service they have got from Unison Turkey. Our clients are very happy with their trip. They like very much all the hotels you booked for them (specially SAMARA), as well as their car, all the restaurants and first of all their local guide. He was indeed very kind and very professional. So once again – thank you for taking such a perfect care of my clients and I do hope to send you next clients in the nearest future. We keep in touch With my best regards Ewa

  • I would like to thank you again Gursan, you truly made this a trip of a life time and opened so many doors. Take care my friend.
